Red-faced Models Showcased Viktor & Rolf Fall/ Winter 2011/ 2012 Collection

In Viktor & Rolf’s collection it wasn’t clothing that attracted my attention. It was the red faces that distinguished this range from others. Why they were red no one could really explain and the designer duo Viktor Horsting and Rolf Snoeren didn’t drop a word about the conception behind such makeup. However, they did tell the audience the show and garments had been inspired by the Middle Age and the knights.

The Viktor & Rolf designers explained:

We felt the need for protection. Fashion’s ever-increasing speed reminds us how important it is to battle for our creativity.”

Speaking about the Viktor & Rolf’s Fall/ Winter 2011/ 2012 fashion, I can say it wasn’t that wearable as only few people would want to wear pieces similar to knight’s armour in shape, even if the materials weren’t stiff and sharp as metal.
Some of the items were pretty though. Pleated skirts looked great, dresses with prints that remind of crusaders’ flags, classic pants and of course shoes – high heeled, patent-leather boots.
