The Dolce man is a man's man...or, to be more precise, he's every woman's dream. Debonair, dashing, who can resist the charms of a tall, slim man with chiseled features poured into a fitted grey three piece pinstripe suit? And whoever she is, could she withstand this army of denim and velor-clad hotness marching towards her as pictured above? I think not.
The ultimate in refined, elegant, classic dressing, the D&G man is as sharp as he is suave, impeccably groomed and without a single flaw. This fall, the D&G man is going back to his classic prince charming roots. Scusi, principe.
While the collection was undoubtedly united by its remarkable tailoring (D&G's menswear calling card is, of course, the strapping suit), some of the pieces and influences felt a bit at random. A sort of 1920's banker with his suspenders and skinny ties followed IT-style geek chic specked men in check shirts. And then there came the acid wash jeans.

Red, on day one already is proving to be a dominant color for the menswear Autumn/Winter 2011 color palette, and Stefano and Domenico used it in spades. A ruby red double breasted blazer here, a full on burgundy velor suit there and two suits in printed red satin (brace yourself, Elton John).

There was also an element of faux fur, which manifested itself in the form of jackets, hood linings and even mid-length coats.
And...of course, underwear as outerwear as underwear...oh who cares, just enjoy :)
Then came the smart D&G man, Don Draper al'Italia, if you will. A tailored, daper look, the smoking jacket if donned by the right man with the right attitude and the right brandy, is impossible to resist. Grey seemed to be the reigning tone in terms of tailored separates, and the boldness of some of the satin and velour smoking jackets were reigned in by the corporate hue-toned trousers. I said smoking JACKETS are sexy, not Hugh Hefner in his pajamas.
Then the Dolce man sheds his smoking jacket and climbs into his tuxedo so as to whisk you away for a night of romance divine under the Tuscan stars. Velour again was used generously, this time in the form of suits rendered in plums and aubergines, evoking a sort of classic rich autumnal sophistication.
Sequins also came out to play. Brad Goreski, this purple number has your name ALL OVER IT.

The crispest tuxes on the planet, the Dolce & Gabbana man knows how to work his black tie. Or his red carpet. Only thing missing is a gorgeously gowned and diamond-draped you dangling off one of these pristinely tailored sleeves. Sigh, we ladies must blow a big bacio Stefano and Domenico's way, with this collection, as ever, they've done the men of the world a stylish service worth praising today! Grazie mille!
