Head to any part of Europe at the peak of Winter and you'll doubtless be met with a sea of quilted jackets, puffers, duck down-stuffed outerwear. And amoungst it all, it's rare to see an interpretation that's appealing let alone amazing. Hence it was Rick Owen's angel-like quilted jackets that stole the show for us when his autumn / fall 2011 collection took to the runway at Paris fashion week. Finally: a quilted jacket that stands out in the sea.
That's not to say the rest of the collection isn't worth noting. It was seemingly littered with historical references, sometimes armour-like, sometimes medieval in feel. But always modern, and always very Rick Owens. The capes had a rustic elegance, and the closing outfits - all floor-length, black and with elbow length gloves - were beautiful in their dark simplicity.
